About the Author
Jason Jeffries grew up in New York and has spent much of his life chasing stories, good food, strange characters, and the next place on the map.
His travels and work have taken him from the mountains and restaurants of Lake Tahoe, California, to Vail, Colorado, the beaches of Cancún, Mexico too Key West , and throughout South Carolina ,North Carolina and Georgia. He has lived and worked in some of the country’s most distinctive places and people.
For the past 30 years, Jeffries has called the coastal South Carolina Lowcountry home. Its marshes, waterways, fishing communities, restaurants, characters, storms, wealth, history, and contradictions have become an enduring influence on his writing.
Jeffries is a daily writer of nonfiction, finance, and gonzo journalism.Through his website Sharkbytez , his blending of observation, humor, skepticism, and an unapologetically street-level view of the world is expressed. His work explores money, markets, people, culture, technology, and the strange machinery of modern life.
Now, after years of nonfiction and journalism, Jeffries is stepping into the literary fiction world.
His fiction draws from the places he has lived, the people he has encountered, and the complicated spaces where money, ambition, relationships, class, technology, and human nature collide. His stories are rooted in real places and recognizable people—but the deeper truths, like the best stories, aren't always comfortable.
King Tides marks his entry into fiction and the beginning of the LowCountry series.
