Stan Young

Stan Young discovered his love of storytelling later in life. After retiring to Cuenca, Ecuador, in 2013, he began inventing bedtime tales for his 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren about a curious young bear named Teddy. The stories were such a hit that, with encouragement from family and friends, Stan turned them into a full series.

Travels of Teddy the Bear follows Teddy as he visits bear cousins around the globe — panda bears in China, polar bears in the Arctic, spectacled bears in Ecuador, sloth bears in India, grizzly bears in Canada, sun bears in Borneo, and brown bears in Russia. Along the way, young readers discover new cultures, landscapes, and animals through Teddy's eyes, learning that no matter where in the world you go, family and kindness feel the same.

The series is illustrated by Dan Blumgart and designed by María Clara León. Stan lives in Ecuador, where the idea for Teddy's adventures first began.
