I grew up watching my mother keep everything — clothes she'd worn once, things nobody in the house had touched in years, things that just... stayed. My brother does it too. But my mother was never lazy. She was the one who kept our whole household running: sorting the laundry, remembering whose shirt was whose, holding together a hundred small things the rest of us never had to think about.

That's the contradiction this book is built to explain — that a full house and a capable, caring person aren't opposites. I write for anyone who's done the big purge, felt the relief, and watched the clutter quietly come back anyway, because the real problem was never effort. It was never having a system for the other half of the cycle.
