Maggie Parker

Maggie Parker was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and discovered a love for motorcycles that became a huge part of her life. From 2010 to 2020, she rode roughly 20,000 miles each year. Riding wasn't simply a hobby. It became part of who she was.

In 2019, Maggie moved to Tennessee after marrying her husband, Felix.

On August 22, 2020, their lives changed in seconds when they were involved in a motorcycle accident. Maggie's injuries resulted in the amputation of her left leg. In 2022, continuing problems with her residual limb led to a second amputation.

What followed became much more than learning to walk with a prosthetic leg. Maggie had to learn how to believe in herself again and discover what life could look like after everything she knew had changed.

That experience became From Wheels to Walkin', Maggie's first book. With no sugarcoating and plenty of humor, sarcasm, and honesty, her memoir tells what happened when her life crashed and how, one day at a time, she learned to live it again.

Today, Maggie supports the limb loss community and writes for MyLimb. org, a platform centered on lower limb loss and limb difference, bringing together information, resources, and real-life experiences from amputees, people with limb differences, prosthetists, caregivers, families, and even the curious.

Sarcastic, stubborn, direct, determined, and always willing to laugh at herself, Maggie doesn't pretend moving forward is easy. But if there's one thing she's learned, it's this: life can knock you down pretty damn hard and still leave you with plenty of reasons to get back up.

She doesn't have a magic formula. But if sharing her story can plant one little seed of hope, belief, or faith in yourself, and help you believe that you can get back up too, then every word was worth writing.
