Joe Castoro

Joe Castoro is a wavy-haired, wayward lover of books with a particular appreciation for the short form. He seeks to bring high-quality stories that spark the imagination and stir the soul to book lovers everywhere—from the young elementary-school student dreaming of knights in shining armour to the brooding Gothic Victorian who suspects there is a ghost behind every dark corner.

Joe’s favourite childhood book is A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, which left him with an enduring appreciation for the transformative power of a story in the right heart, at the right time.

His editorial philosophy is simple: more fiction that stays with you long after you return to the realm of “reality,” and fewer goblins with all the gold but none of the substance.

Joe holds a PhD in neuroscience and a Certificate in Creative Writing from the University of Toronto—credentials which, taken together, have qualified him to know quite a lot about very little.

He just hopes you enjoy reading good stories as much as he does.
