Katie Heid

Katie Heid is a Michigan journalist and longtime storyteller with decades of experience in writing and broadcasting. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Her love of storytelling—and cats—inspired her first children’s book, Walter Doesn’t Live Here, a heartwarming tale about a curious neighborhood cat who seems to belong no matter who he's with or where he goes.

Katie lives in Michigan where she continues to write, report and find stories in unexpected places. She shares her home with her husband, two sons, and several beloved cats, including the real Walter, who inspired the book.
