Bhupinder Singh has spent his working life around ledgers and targets — currently handling North 1 for a reputed bank — and every spare hour around sentences instead. He writes cars into life on Apex Theory, his blog for people who still slow down at the sound of an engine, and writes other people's stories into shape as a content writer and ghostwriter, more often than not without his own name attached to any of it.
Adhoori: A Story Left Unfinished carries his name for the first time. Inspired by a true story, it is written the way people actually talk in this part of the world — English drifting into Hindi and back again, mid-sentence, without asking permission — and it follows two people who never quite said everything they meant to, and a love that was never given the chance to finish what it started. Naseeb, some would call it. Others would just call it life, arriving on time for one person, and late — or not at all — for another.
He lives, much like his characters, somewhere between the life he chose and the one he still sometimes wonders about. Most days, he writes in the space between the two.
