Stanley B. Silverman

Stan Silverman is Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus at The University of Akron and President of Human Resource Decisions, Inc. He has advised organizations of all sizes, including some of the world’s largest companies, on leadership development, organizational change, performance management, and talent development. His clients have included General Motors, Moen, Bridgestone/Firestone, and Allstate.

Stan has co-authored books and numerous articles on performance appraisal, personnel selection, and employee development in leading journals such as The Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology. He has been active nationally with the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and co-authored a book chapter that received the 2010 HRD Book of the Year Award. His research on arrogance in the workplace has been widely cited, and he has presented his work internationally.

A frequent speaker across the U.S. and Europe, Stan has appeared on national radio and television, including NBC’s Today Show. He was recently recognized as one of the most influential Industrial and Organizational Psychologists alive today. In 2022, he was inducted into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
