D. Key is a lifelong writer whose love of storytelling began with her father, a poet and storyteller who encouraged creativity in his children. She began writing poetry at a young age, using words to navigate heartbreak and express hope, joy, and the complexities of life. Her appreciation for literature deepened under the influence of a high school teacher who showed her how vividly poems and stories could come alive. Over the years, D. has written countless poems and several children's books, but Don't Blame Me marks her debut as a published author. After becoming a widow, she decided life was too short not to live - and write - bravely. D. lives in the South with her cat, Venus. She is the mother of two daughters and "Honey" to a granddaughter, and draws inspiration from writers and storytellers across poetry, fiction, film, and music.
