Marco Jimenez

Marco Jimenez is a children's book author and founder of Sol Luna Publishing. Inspired by his love of travel, Mexican culture, and the stories passed down through his family, Marco creates books that encourage young readers to discover the world through curiosity, imagination, and adventure.

After a distinguished 38-year career in law enforcement, Marco retired and began a new chapter. A year into retirement, he accepted a part-time position as a crossing guard and noon supervisor at an elementary school.

It was there, surrounded by the energy and curiosity of young students, that Marco rediscovered a cherished part of his childhood. Visits to the school library and book fairs brought back wonderful memories of the excitement he felt exploring books as a young boy. Those early experiences had instilled in him a lifelong love of reading, and returning to that environment years later helped rekindle his desire to create stories of his own.

Drawing inspiration from his father's Mexican heritage, childhood stories, and his own appreciation for Mexico's rich history and traditions, Marco created his debut children's book, Nopi's Big Journey: Discovering Mexico. Through the adventures of an inquisitive little cactus named Nopi, he invites children to explore new places, celebrate different cultures, and experience the joy of discovery.

Marco lives in Southern California and is the proud father of three adult children and grandfather of six. When he isn't writing or spending time with students, he enjoys traveling, gardening, reading history, watching documentaries, and baking sourdough bread.

Through his books, Marco hopes to inspire the same sense of wonder he experienced as a child wandering through school libraries and book fairs. He believes children don't always need a plane, train, or automobile to explore the world. Sometimes, all it takes is a little imagination and the turn of a page.

Adventure Awaits with Nopi!
