Shawn Denson

Born in Virginia, raised in North Carolina, now living in West Virginia and proudly flying the Gen X flag, Shawn Denson brings a lifetime of diverse experiences to the page. As a former professional chef specializing in French, Italian, and Mexican cuisine, Shawn traded the high-stress restaurant kitchen for the equally demanding (but much safer) world of storytelling. When not writing, Shawn can usually be found diving into a great book.

If not reading, Shawn might be studying classic cinema, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, or listening to an eclectic, genre-spanning soundtrack. While Pink Floyd remains his all-time favorite, the rotation heavily features legends like The Beatles, Guns N' Roses, Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, Disturbed and everything in between. A self-professed fanatic of horror, action, science fiction, and comedy, Shawn's personal cinematic holy grail includes The Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back, T2, Aliens, Rocky, Full Metal Jacket, Back to the Future, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Unforgiven, and First Blood.

Above all else, Shawn is a dedicated parent to two adult daughters, whose primary daily duty is lovingly tormenting them over their highly questionable choices in modern entertainment. Firmly opposed to hatred of any and all kinds, Shawn believes in good stories, great music, and—above all else—an absolute, unadulterated hatred of leg day.
