Pauline Gill is a Dogs Australia accredited breeder and the founder of Tapua Labrador
Retrievers, a purpose-breeding program specialising in assistance dogs, medical alert
dogs, and sporting dogs. Since 1986, she has been a financial member of Dogs NSW,
and she has held an accredited breeder prefix since 1991.
Pauline has bred over two hundred operational dogs working in fields including scent
detection for the Police and ADF, biosecurity, medical alert (diabetes and epilepsy), truffle
hunting, and sporting and performance dogs for field retrieving and obedience. Her
Labrador Retrievers have been exhibited at the Sydney Royal.
Before becoming a full-time breeder and trainer, Pauline worked in the disability sector
and in NGOs supporting people with alcohol and other drug dependencies and adult
survivors of child abuse. She studied at the University of New England, where she
developed a deep interest in canine cognition, behavioural modification, and genetics.
Pauline lives in the Central West of New South Wales with her husband Peter Levett —
a former Army Combat Engineer and their pack of Labradors. Their property includes
a purpose-built enrichment course and kennels approved under NSW POCTA legislation.
Eight Weeks and Beyond is her first book.
