bash: 3 Plays

A bold and unsettling collection of three acclaimed one-act plays that cemented Neil LaBute's reputation as one of the most provocative voices in contemporary American theater.

Originally premiered in a celebrated New York production and later performed around the world, Bash: Three Plays explores the capacity for cruelty, self-deception, and moral compromise hidden within ordinary lives.

Drawing inspiration from classical tragedy and modern social realities, LaBute presents three unforgettable dramatic monologues and dialogues that challenge audiences to confront uncomfortable truths about human behavior.

In Medea Redux, a young woman recounts a devastating relationship with a teacher. Iphigenia in Orem follows a businessman whose casual conversation reveals a shocking secret.

In A Gaggle of Saints, a young couple offers conflicting accounts of a violent weekend in New York City.

Through sharp dialogue, emotional intensity, and chilling revelations, these plays examine the banality of evil and the ways people justify their most troubling actions. Widely studied, performed, and discussed, Bash remains an essential work of contemporary drama and a powerful showcase of LaBute's distinctive theatrical voice.
