Synopsis

While volunteering as a tutor for an adult ESL program helping intermediate and advanced learners, I was asked to include a segment on technology during each session. The result is this book. On the technology side, the goal of this book is to provide a simplified overview of computers. No one will become an expert programmer using the basic ideas found here, but they might gain a better understanding of the technology – at least enough of an understanding to recognize the terms commonly used in schools, at work, and in advertisements.On the vocabulary side, the goal of this book is to introduce new vocabulary to the learner, to show the learner that many English words have multiple meanings, and to show how important it is to use the context to figure out a word’s meaning.
