[1] - [10], [10] - 17, [1] pp. Dedication signed [in type] by 'youngtypo'. This copy with astericked names identified in pencil. Headpieces. Decorative initial capital letters. Folio: A - E . C1 in duplicate. John Wilkes was a British radical, journalist and politician. He was first elected a Member of Parliament in 1757. In the Middlesex election dispute, he fought for the right of his votersâ"rather than the House of Commonsâ"to determine their representatives. In 1768, angry protests of his supporters were suppressed in the St George's Fields Massacre. This a satire by one of those, evidently, not in Wilkes' camp. Now quite uncommon in the trade. A1 well worn & soiled, with split to center right edge. Other internal paper repairs. A Good copy only. Disbound, now housed in an archival mylar sleeve The Fourth Edition [ESTC T4982]. First published as 'A New Form of Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Happy Deliverance of John Wilkes, Esq.'.
