In "A Book of French Love - Artists", literary critic Arthur Symons (who was an esteemed poet and writer in his own right) chose four masters of French fiction who had proven through their stories to be experts at interpreting the human heart. The four writers are Balzac, Prosper Mérimée, Théophile Gautier, and Guy De Maupassant. Each one of these authors are admired by devoted readers around the world. This is one of the less common Little Blue Books. The title is out of print. Back cover blank. CONDITION -- This is a previously owned book . Pocket Series and Little Blue Books were issued using inexpensive materials and thus are almost always found with toned and faded paper. Other small defects such as slightly chipped corners, printer's smudges, and such are common. Any flaws beyond the normal for these will be detailed. Little Blue Books often did not have blue covers - or the blue has faded to gray. Please remember that vintage paper items are more fragile than their modern counterparts, and thus require proper care in handling // THIS COPY -- VERY GOOD -- The binding integrity seems solid; the exterior is clean. Interior paper is moderately toned, else clean and free of marking.

Blue cloth, strong mottling to front board with some flaking to gilt stamped lettering, spine's gilt stamped lettering remains vibrant. Edges toned. Front hinge splitting and now reinforced with archival glue applied along spine's backstrip. Top corner of pages 21-22 creased from past fold-down. Frontispiece with seven b/w plates on unpaged leaves amongst text. Features twenty-eight chapters with Appendix including Index. Else a good copy.
