Questa nuova edizione mondadoriana porta la cura e una lunga prefazione (Di questo libro e di un altro mondo) di Umberto Saba. Le poesie, di registro popolaresco e vernacolare, offrono un sincero ritratto anche sonoro della vita dei soldati di fanteria («la buffa» nel gergo di trincea) narrata «con l'invenzione, la rozzezza, il cuore e la tragicità del popolo» (Stuparich). Il volume fa parte della Nuova Serie della collana Le Pleiadi, raffinata collezione di gemme letterarie pubblicata in due riprese da Mondadori tra gli anni '37 e il dopoguerra in «piccoli volumetti tascabili in formato aldino gioiello» impressi in carattere Bembo su carta vergata. In Harbin hatte er Kontakt mit dem namensgleichen für die Sowjetunion in Japan tätigen russisch-deutschen Agenten Richard Sorge, der ihn als einen Spion der Nationalsozialisten ansah. Auch der britische Geheimdienst betrachtete ihn als deutschen Agenten, denn er besaß ausgezeichnete Kenntnisse über und Beziehungen zu chinesischen und mandschurischen Institutionen. La commedia, scritta nel 1932, risulta essere stata rappresentata con regia di Cesco BASEGGIO dalla compagnia Carli-Baseggio aprile 1944: Baseggio, Cesco (Gaetano Stevenin, ex-maresciallo dei carabinieri); Oppi, Giulio (Patrizio Fogoner); Allegranza, Aldo (Cavalier Crovattini) al Teatro Odeon di Milano, poi replicata nello stesso mese al Teatro Goldoni di Venezia; l'allestimento è poi riproposto il 3 giugno al Teatro Verdi di Trieste. Il nostro es. proviene da un fondo della Compagnia di mario casaleggio poi passato a Erminio Macario. ROCCA, di padre torinese e madre feltrina, autore di romanzi e di circa 90 commedie, in parte in dialetto veneto; dal 1913 critico teatrale su "Il popolo d'Italia". nel 1934 direttore del primo Festival Teatrale della Biennale di Venezia, Non risulta edita da sola.
