Full title - THE PRACTICAL BOOK OF ITALIAN, SPANISH, AND PORTUGUESE FURNITURE BY HAROLD DONALDSON EBERLEIN AND ROGER WEARNE RAMSDELL WITH FRONTISPIECE IN COLOUR 316 ILLUSTRATIONS IN DOUBLETONE AND 57 IN LINE. First edition (as stated upon copyright page). [6], 254 pages plus 144 full page plates. Hardcover: H 22.75cm x L 17cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Dark tan cloth mildly soiled; fraying at spine ends; oval shaped white stain below spine center with red title lettering near head dulled but legible; front board's red lettering still bright; some shelf scuffing along bottom board edges. Gilt top edge; deckle fore-edge and bottom edge. Foxing and toning usually strongest on pages adjacent to plates with occasional other light occurrences; scattered light soiling too; several rear leaves with shallow light stains at top spine corners. Binding has a few slight stress points as typical with Lippincott books of this era but, overall, remains firm. Three-line black ink stamp on front pastedown: "Return to | Addison Mizner | Palm Beach, Fla." Slender rectangular aquamarine bookseller ticket with white lettering and border ("Brentano's | Booksellers & Stationers | New York") discreetly affixed at rear pastedown's bottom left corner. A very good- copy. Interesting association copy as book was evidently owned by famed Palm Beach architect Addison Cairns Mizner (1872-1933) whose Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival designs influenced development throughout southern Florida and, in particular, Mizner's development of Boca Raton, Florida. Please note that this book has an approximate shipping weight of 3.75 pounds (1.7 kg) and will require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail. …

Stapled Wraps. First Edition, First Printing. pp. 31. 8vo., measuring 21 cm tall. Twice-stapled wrappers with title in black, strikingly-illustrated covers featuring a highly allegorical caricature of Stalin depicted at the helm of carriage (emblazoned with the initials of the C.C.C.P. [ ]) whipping two beleaguered men as they struggle to pull the carriage and its occupants. Accompanied with six additional, full-page, and, in-text, linocut caricatures, chiefly of Stalin and his foreign minister Litvinov. A prescient, and remarkable prewar publication emerging out of the Canadian Prairies (home to a substantial Ukrainian émigré population), wherein, the author, a former officer of the Ukrainian Sich Rifleman, offers a vehement (at times invoking anti-semitic tropes) critique of Stalin by examining the ideological and political framework of his approach to democracy and the Communist International (Comintern), the promotion of socialist revolutions worldwide (such as the Spanish Civil War), and the complex relationship between democratic principles and authoritarian practices under Stalin's leadership. Not found in commerce. Corresponds to OCLC #14877803 which locates eleven North American holdings, and two continental (BL & Bayerische Staatsbibliothek). Exceptionally well-preserved, no flaws noted: near fine. Text in Ukrainian. Mykhailo Pohoretsky, also known as Michael Pohorecky [ , ; Pohorec'kyj, Myxajlo], was born on December 21, 1899, in Hadynkivtsi, Kopychyntsi County, Galicia, and passed away on July 26, 1964, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was a journalist and a former officer in the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. Educated at the Lviv (Underground) Ukrainian University and the Ukrainian Free University, he emigrated to Canada in 1927, where he edited Zakhidni visti in Edmonton alongside Vladimir Kaye-Kysilewsky, before founding Novyi shliakh, and serving as its editor for many years (193054, 196064). He was a founding member of the Ukrainian National Federation, serving as its president in 1936. Additionally, he was a member of the presidium of the Ukrainian Canadian Committee (now known as Congress) for many years. Provenance: The Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre (Oseredok).…

4to. 1 p. Gedr.
