Autobiography of Sadye Wier (1905-1995) who was employed as a Negro Home Demonstration and Extension Agent with the Mississippi State Cooperative Extension Service from 1943 to 1969 and was an ardent community activist involved with Four-H Clubs, Prairie Opportunity, League of Women Voters, among other organizations as well as a trustee of the Oktibbeha County Library System from 1979-1989. Sadye Wier's life is also chronicled by John F. Marszalek is the Giles Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History at Mississippi State University in MISSISSIPPI WOMEN: THEIR HISTORIES, THEIR LIVES (University of Georgia Press, 2003). Professor Marszalek and Sadye Wier co-authored A BLACK BUSINESSMAN IN WHITE MISSISSIPPI, 1886-1974 (Jackson, MS: University Press of Mississippi, 1977) which documented the life of Sadye's husband Robert Wier, owner of City Barber Shop in Starkville, Mississippi, who was the first and only African American of his era to have a business on that city's Main Street. The papers of Sadye H. Wier and husband Robert Wier (1886-1974) are held by the Mississippi State University Libraries Special Collections. {MS-Shelf#5}.
