Wraps. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Extremely scarce, with only copy found on OCLC First Search at the Library of Congress. 4to. 26.5 by 20.5 cm. LIX, [2] pp. The art exhibit and the one act drama were arranged by, and meant to celebrate, the Instutito de' Nobili, created in 1761, according to introductory remarks in the book. Listed are its members, a few of the surnames remain well-known for one reason or another (Salviati, Guicciardini, Strozzi). The play expands upon, or adapts, a few scenes from the Aeniad of Virgil, and it would seem to us that the Instituto was intent on supporting and perpetuating a traditional elevated form of drama based on the "classics." Wraps a later gilt and rust red damask paper. Edge of wraps soiled.
