'ANTONIO DE AZEVEDO MELLO E CARVALHO nasceu em Penafiel a 11 de Março de 1795. Pertencia pela parte paterna á illustre e antiquissima casa de Azevedo, cuja origem se conta de tempos anteriores á epocha da fundação da nossa monarchia. Formado Bacharel em Direito no anno de 1817, parte para o Rio de Janeiro em Julho de 1819, já nomeado Juiz de fóra da villa de Caminha. No Brasil exerceu varios cargos de magistratura, e tendo regressado a Portugal, foi em Julho de 1833 nomeado Ouvidor da Alfandega de Lisboa, e pouco depois por decreto de 30 de Janeiro de 1834 despachado Juiz do Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa. Desempenhou suas funcções até ser em 6 de Agosto de 1839 nomeado Presidente do mesmo Tribunal. Resignou este logar em 1844. Por duas vezes foi nomeado Ministro d"Estado, a primeira em Fevereiro de 1842, encarregado da pasta da Justiça, a segunda em 1847 da do Reino, servindo de ambas as vezes por tempo mui limitado, mas com creditos de honradissimo, activo e justiceiro. No mesmo anno de 1847 passou a Conselheiro do Supremo Tribunal de Justiça. Por varias vezes tomou assento na Camara dos Deputados, e no tempo em que vigorou a Constituição de 1838 foi eleito Senador; sendo a final elevado a dignidade de Par do Reino por carta regia de 17 de Maio de 1861. O sr. D. Pedro V para manifestar o apreço que dava aos seus serviços o condecorou com a gran-cruz da Ordem de S. Tiago em 28 de Dezembro de 1859. It is an extensive analysis of the government's actions over the past several months.Antonio de Azevedo Mello e Carvalho (Penafiel, 1795-1862), received his law degree in 1817, and in 1819 departed for Brazil, where he held various magistracies until 1833. Returned to Portugal, he served as ouvidor da Alfandega de Lisboa, and Juiz do Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa. He twice served (briefly) as minister (of justice and state), and was frequently a deputy to the Cortes.
