This book describes the journey from Nova Scotia, (via the Azores, Madeira, Africa and Europe), to England, where the Carlins had to settle for a while in order to renovate the jeep and raise money for the next part of their journey. Published by Andre Deutsch Ltd in 1955, here is the first hardback printing of Ben Carlin's Half-Safe: Across The Atlantic by Jeep. Green cloth binding, gilt spine lettering, 279 pages, photographs. the book is in good condition with some spotting to the cloth bound boards, the extreme outsides of the page edges and the first 3 or 4 pages. There is also some light fading to the cloth at the base of the spine. The dust jacket is fair to good with some chipping to the edges and the spine plus some general spotting and staining to the covers and insides.
