Exemplaire sur hollande non numéroté, "épreuve d'auteur" signée L.B., 1 vol. in-folio en feuillet sous chemise éditeur cartonnée demi-percaline rouge, Librairie de Charles Marion, Besançon, 1874, texte et 25 eaux-fortes sous serpentes Il s'agit de l'exemplaire du graveur Tancrède Abraham (avec son bel ex-libris gravé) signé L. B. (l'abbé Louis Besson). Belle provenance, de la bibliothèque du peintre et graveur Tancrède Abraham (1836-1895), connu pour ses gravures de l'Anjou et de la Mayenne, mais qui illustra aussi avec le comtois Gaston Coindre (1844-1914) ce bel ouvrage. Les gravures sont protégées par des serpentes le plus souvent légendées. Bon état (chemise un peu frottée, les premiers et derniers feuillets solidaires des plats, rouss. sur les serpentes, mais texte et planches sont d'une belle fraîcheur) pour cet exemplaire de belle provenance, conservé dans sa chemise d'origine. In-8° (225x162mm), pp. VII, 92, (4), brossura editoriale con incisione al piatto riproducente un lavoro di Grenier. Ritratto fototipico dell'artista all'antiporta, 2 incisioni fototipiche n.t., una in principio del volume e mo' di testatina e una in fine, a guisa di cul-de-lampe; le incisioni sono eseguite d'après nature da Delagrange & Magnus di Besançon. Invio autografo di uno dei due curatori, Édouard Grenier: à Madame la M. Ricci en souvenir des 2 frères. E. G. [Édouard Grenier]. Perfetto esemplare in barbe. Unica edizione, rarissima e non destinata al commercio, impressa in sole 200 copie su papier de Hollande e 4 su Japon Impérial (il nostro esemplare è della tiratura su Hollande). La prima monografia sistematicamente dedicata al Grenier, tuttora di riferimento per lo studio del noto pittore francese. Il Grenier (Baume-les-Dames, 1819-ivi, 1901), letterato, critico, poeta e diplomatico, fu grande amico di Alphonse de Lamartine e, nei salotti letterari parigini, fu in contatto con scrittori come Heine, Nodier, Musset, George Sand, e Sainte-Beuve. Le sue poesie furono al tempo molto celebri e un suo poema sull'assassinio di Lincoln rimbalzò rapidamente sui principali giornali americani.
