A history of Hays County and San Marcos, Texas written to commemorate the centennial year. Includes material on Hays County cattlemen who participated in northern drives, the Texas Rangers, and has a brief old-timer reminiscence of Ben Thompson. Includes information on the topography and geography, agricultural development, early church organizations, economic growth, pioneer schools, etc. Hays County was created on March 1, 1848, by the State Legislature of Texas. The inside rear cover has adhesive marks from a review of the book (article is now encased in acid-free mylar and laid inside). Except as noted, a clean, very good copy.
