This book is the unromanticized and hitherto untold story of the citizens of five of the most important cattle trading centers in Kansas; Abilene, Ellsworth, Wichita, Dodge City, and Caldwell from 1867 to 1885. The towns all courted the cattle business and the railroads and had to cope with all the evils it brought with it while still trying to promote respectability. This precipitated an internal struggle for economic power and political dominance to determine the futures of these towns. A clean very presentable copy.
