The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or… by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation- 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. In 1920, after decades of tireless activism by countless determined suffragists, American women were finally guaranteed the right to vote. The year 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. It was ratified by the states on August 18, 1920 and certified as an amendment to the US Constitution on August 26, 1920. Developed in partnership with the National Park Service, this publication weaves together multiple stories about the quest for women's suffrage across the country, including those who opposed it, the role of allies and other civil rights movements, who was left behind, and how the battle differed in communities across the United States. Explore the complex history and pivotal moments that led to ratification of the 19th Amendment as well as the places where that history happened and its continued impact today.

Washington, D.C.: Eastern National Park & Monument Association, in cooperation with Colonial National Historical Park, U.S. Department of the Interior, 1961. Photography by James R. Dunlop. Printed by Colorgraphic Press, Washingt…on, D.C. Saddle-stapled pictorial wraps (8.25 × 9 in. approx.), 32 pp., richly illustrated in color. First Edition, First Printing (1961). A beautifully produced National Park Service publication celebrating the historical arc between the founding of Jamestown (1607) and the decisive Battle of Yorktown (1781). Text and full-color photography trace Virginia's colonial heritage through Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown, connected by the scenic Colonial Parkway, which links the sites of America's earliest English settlement and Revolutionary triumph. Includes a vivid double-page map of the Parkway, with painted vignettes of ships, cannons, and early Virginia architecture. Condition: Near Fine. Clean and bright pictorial wraps; faint edge toning only. Interior crisp, unmarked, and complete. A well-preserved example of the original 1961 first printing, printed by Colorgraphic Press for the Eastern National Park & Monument Association. Edition/Printing Diagnostics: Back cover priced at $1.50. Imprint credits to Eastern National Park & Monument Association, Colonial National Historical Park, and Colorgraphic Press (1961). This issue predates later 1970s-80s reprints, confirming First Edition, First Printing (1961). James R. Dunlop (1915-1993) was an American photographer best known for his documentary and landscape work produced for the National Park Service and affiliated organizations such as the Eastern National Park & Monument Association. Active from the 1950s through the 1970s, Dunlop specialized in color photography of historic and natural landmarks across the eastern United States, including the Colonial National Historical Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Gettysburg National Military Park. His images, marked by balanced composition and naturalistic color, helped define the midcentury visual identity of America's heritage tourism materials. Photography by James R. Dunlop (illustrator).
