Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. xlvii, 358p, map on end pages.
Published by The Johns Hopkins Press, Baltimore, 1949
Hardcover. xlvii, 358p., illustrated with two maps: the endsheet doublespread (identical front and rear) and a vegetation map/diagram at p.2. Hardbound in brownish-grey cloth boards spine-titled black. Lacks the dust jacket. Slight general edgewear to casing but quite sound, and textblock is entirely clean and unmarked.

Hardcover. xlvii, 358p., illustrated with two maps: the endsheet doublespread (identical front and rear) and a vegetation map/diagram at p.2. Hardbound in maroon cloth boards spine-titled in bronze and enclosed in the dust jacket. General good condition with two flaws, the spine title is dim (poor choice of ink), and marginal foxing to terminal leaves - perhaps a dozen fore-edges are spotty, with further faint spotting to text en bloc, and to dust jacket. In short, a very good copy, not quite fine. FYI, this item was first issued by Johns Hopkins in 1949. Our British reissue incorporates a special preface by the author (seven additional pages) and drops the American preface for reasons of room (his acknowledgments list went on too long, or some such problem).
