Foxing on the edges, soiling in both gutters, a few rust spots showing through. The jacket has a long closed tear and a crease on the front panel, chipping and small tears on the edges and spine ends, scattered soiling, now nicely contained in a Brodart cover.Binding is firm, text clean.

Hardcover. Condition: gut. 1972. This is the original 1st Edition that was approved by William G. Sutherland. In this book, Magoun takes the concepts of Sutherland and puts them into a text that became the standard for most osteopathic cranial training programs. In subsequent editions, many things were removed and added to make the text more "Scientifically Acceptable" and much of the essence of the osteopathic approach was lost. We feel this is a valuable contribution to the literature and we are happy that it is back in print. This is a text that should be an essential part of the library of any osteopath or cranial practitioner. Autor: The editor, Dr. Harold I. Magoun, Sr. (1898-1981) received his A.B. from Harvard University and his D.O. from the Andrew Taylor Still College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1924. He spent two years in the Medical Corps of the American Expeditionary Force in World War I, was decorated for care of the wounded under fire, and also received the Purple Heart medal. He was prominent in professional circles, authored many articles in the professional literature, and did much postgraduate study and teaching during his years of practice. In 1940 he was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Science in Osteopathy, and received the Fellowship of the American Academy of Osteopathy in 1962 and the A.T. Still Medallion of Honor in 1967.
