Condition: Very good. 16 x 20 cm handcoloured print. No 17 in bottom right corner. This engraving is after a drawing by John Webber from John Hawkesworth's account (1773) of the voyages of Captain James Cook, Joseph Banks and Captain John Byron. The engraving portrays a family hut, based on the presence of children with their mothers.
No Binding. Condition: Good. Copper engraved print from Barnard's "New Complete & Authentic History of England." No date printed, but listings of this piece at the Library of Congress and the Yale University Art Gallery date it to 1783. Page measures approximately 15 x 9 inches. One rough edge where it was removed from the book; very slight creasing; minor foxing. No content on verso. Both artists are credited only by last name. This print depicts a major event in the American Revolutionary War. Following the capture of New York City in 1776, General Charles Lee was on route to join George Washington in Pennsylvania. He was captured by British Troops at a tavern in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He remained in British custody until 1778 when he was exchanged for a captured British general.
