Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Tracing the impact of Australia's #MeToo momentThis year, Australia's #MeToo moment erupted in the national parliament. In this electrifying essay, Jess Hill, the acclaimed author of See What You Made Me Do, traces the meaning of those events and what could happen next. What are the politics of rage? What couldn't Scott Morrison see? And what hope is there of real progress and accountability? Hill examines how the law, the media and politics can bring about - or stall - change. She shows how when #MeToo meets patriarchy, the results are unpredictable - from lasting reform to backlash. And she asks whether a conservative prime minister can do what is required to meet the moment. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condition: New. Every year in England and Wales alone, one in twenty adults suffer domestic abuse, two thirds of them women. Every week, two men kill a woman they were intimate with. And still we ask the wrong question: Why didn't she leave? Instead, we should ask: Why did he do it?Investigative journalist Jess Hill puts perpetrators -- and the systems that enable them -- in the spotlight. Her radical reframing of domestic abuse takes us beyond the home to explore how power, culture and gender intersect to both produce and normalise abuse. She boldly confronts uncomfortable questions about how and why society creates abusers, but can't seem to protect their victims, and shows how we can end this dark cycle of fear and control.'See What You Made Me Do' is a profound and bold confrontation of this urgent crisis and its deep roots. It will challenge everything you thought you knew about domestic abuse.

First Edition Signed
SIGNED Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Stated First Edition, 5 3/4 X 8 Inches. 272 PP. SIGNED and INSCRIBED to "Cy" by author on first page. "Cy, these glimpses from eleven years of story writing. Ever affectionally, Jesse Hill Ford". Some scuffing and wear to boards Light wear and rubbing to Dust Jacket edges. Foxing to inside of Dust Jacket. Jesse Hill Ford was a Southern writer whose life and work were marked by both literary promise and personal controversy. Born in Alabama in 1928, he emerged as a bold voice in American fiction during the 1960s, confronting the deep racial and social divisions of the modern South with unflinching honesty. He attended both Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University in Nashville. His most famous novel, The Liberation of Lord Byron Jones, drew from real events and challenged readers with its complex portrayal of race, justice, and masculinity in a small Tennessee town. Ford's own life mirrored the tensions he wrote about; a 1965 shooting incident involving a Black teenager near his home thrust him into the national spotlight, complicating his role as both social critic and Southern insider. Though his literary star dimmed in later years, Ford remains a compelling and conflicted figure whose work captures the turbulence of a changing America. He eventually returned to Nashville where, severely depressed following open-heart surgery and the publication of his collected letters, he died by suicide on June 1, 1996 Bookseller Inventory # BD1-005-00116.
