Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Homeless Etiquette : Social Interaction andBehavior Among the Homeless Living in Taito Ward,Tokyo is based on ethnographic field research carriedout in the autumn of 2003 in certain parts of Tokyo. The author of this MA thesis followe…d the daily livesof chosen groups of homeless people, sometimesparticipated in their actions, and did a number ofopen interviews. The field data is analysed using theaspects of Takie Sugiyama Lebra''s theory of 'socialrelativism'. Lebra s theory is also critically reviewed. The thesis aims to clarify, how and why theinteraction and behavior of some homeless individualsfollow the aspects of Lebra''s theory in somesituations, and on the other hand, why in somesituations they do not. A significant finding in thestudy is the so called 'homeless etiquette', whichappears to be an abstract set of norms and valuesthat influences the social interaction and behaviorof the homeless, and which many of the homelessindividuals presented in the study seemed to complywith. The author argues that a deeper understandingof the daily lives of the homeless is needed forcreating sustainable solutions to issues relating tohomelessness in Japan.; The Homeless Etiquette : Social Interaction andBehavior Among the Homeless Living in Taito Ward,Tokyo is based on ethnographic field research carriedout in the autumn of 2003 in certain parts of Tokyo. The author of this MA thesis followed the daily livesof chosen groups of homeless people, sometimesparticipated in their actions, and did a number ofopen interviews.
