This is an old young adult fiction novel called Denys or The Doings of Denys, copyright 1929, hard cover, dust jacket, written by Mabel mackintosh. The books dust jacket has some chips and tears otherwise in good condition and in a protective mylar wrap. The book has pages browning due to age, previous owners inscription on first end page, otherwise in good condition with tight binding and 192 pages. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

The Very Good condition binding is blue paper overs boards, silver lettering, Inside front and back cover show aging, Illustrated frontispiece, pages ;show toning from age but clean. The binding is tight and pages are clean. The book measures 7.7" tall x 5.1" wide.

In good plus red cloth pictorial boards, with red, orange and black image of boy carrying straw on his back and black titles, gilt title field to spine with red titles to spine. The boards are flat and quite clean; the hinges are cracked and the front cover is wobbly. The free end papers are slightly tanned and the paste downs are a little marked. There is a dedication on the front free end paper. The text block is quite tightly bound, even and the pages are tanned, especially on the cut edges and the page edges. Publisher's list to rear. Good condition. Without jacket.

Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with moderate staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has minor tanning with light splitting and crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

B&W illustrations throughout by the like of Louis Wain and Ernest Aris. Short stories for young children, including a tale about a cat called Tom the Foolish by Louis Wain. Scarce.
