Green hardcover with dustjacket, flyer for this book laid in loosely at the front. the book has some very light shelfwear, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages, no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and looks very good on the outside but has some tape repairs to the reverse side, light shelf soil, light edge rubbing, no chips. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
Oversize Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First Edition. Book is in dark green cloth with lightly bumped corners. Previous owner's name on front end paper, a paperclip rust stain on inside front cover. 80 pages with about 25 in the back on glossy paper with numbered examples of netsuke from the author's collection, perhaps 8 examples per page in b&w photos. Binding is solid and square, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket is in tatters with large open tears, now wrapped in a protective cover. The author, a London antique dealer, gives an historical and critical account both of the more notable individual netsuke craftsmen and a detailed accounting of the schools formed in the principal towns. Publisher's page contains the words "First published" and the date. Contents include netsuke, function and form, The makin gof netsuke, materials and technique, History of . The author's collection.
