Farm by a stream of water; a peasant woman standing on the left side of the composition, whereas a man with a child is crossing a bridge and more to the right another farmer working just outside the farm. Many trees and vegetation decorate the scene. Not signed or numbered. Etching on paper; with margins; plate mark 200 x 160 mm; total: 275 x 226 mm; state II/2; mounted on passepartout; outer margins slightly cooked, not affecting the plate. Some light staining in the sky on the top left, otherwise in very good condition.

Notable works include six landscapes with figures near Haarlem (1791-1793), two engravings depicting scenes from the 1807 Leiden explosion, and "De gestrande zeevisch," a coastal scene. Known for his detailed and naturalistic style, Overbeek passed away in Haarlem on March 24, 1815, aged 63. Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling.
