Hardback. Ray Parkin, The Hogarth Press. Author: Ray ParkinBinding: HardbackPublished: The Hogarth Press, 1960Condition:Book: GoodJacket: No dust jacket - some marks on spine and cornersPages: Tanning and foxingMarkings: No markingsOut Of The Smoke chronicles Ray Parkin's harrowing experiences as a sailor aboard HMAS Perth during World War II, detailing the ship's dramatic sinking and the subsequent struggle for survival. This powerful memoir presents a stark, unvarnished account of naval warfare and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Parkin illustrates the brutal realities of combat and captivity with vivid prose, offering a deeply personal perspective on a pivotal moment in history. The narrative captures the camaraderie and despair of men pushed to their limits, making it a compelling testament to endurance. It argues for the profound impact of war on individuals, leaving an indelible mark on its readers. Hardback.
