Water staining and foxing to text block edges. Moderate cracking and exposed netting to page 288, pages remain attached. Lighter cracking to hinges. Pen inscription to front free end paper. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing surfaces. Noticeable tanning and staining overall, heavier sunning to spine and edges. Book has a mild forward lean. Mild crushing and fraying to spine ends and joints.

THE JACKET IS SLIGHTLY RUBBED AND HAS A 3 CM MARK TO THE FRONT. THE BOARDS HAVE SLIGHT BUMPING TO BOTH ENDS OF THE SPINE AND CORNERS. THE BINDING IS SLIGHTLY FLEXIBLE. THERE IS A FAINT INSCRIPTION INSIDE THE FRONT BOARD. THERE IS LIGHT FOXING TO THE EDGE AND TO A COUPLE OF PAGES. THE PAGES ARE SLIGHTLY DISCOLOURED BUT GENERALLY APPEAR CLEAN AND CREASE FREE. ALL IN ALL A NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK.

Ranjee Shahani was born in 1904 and travelled to Britain some time in the mid-1920s. He had a D.Litt from Paris and his first wife, Suzanne, was from Normandy, France. His second wife was Leticia V. Ramos from the Philippines. He died in 1968. Neat gift inscription dated 1943.
