Condition: Good. Fourteenth edition. 334 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt. Black and white photographs and diagrams. Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning.

This was the 14th edition of the "Motor Boat and Yachting Manual", but the first to appear since 1939, when the outbreak of WWII curtailed publication till 1949, with this copy being a second impression of that issue. After such a delay it was virtually a new volume, having undergone an almost complete re-writing with some material updated. A new sections dealt with legal issues and jet power for marine propulsion was diuscfussed. Also included was extensive coverage giving details and two-view drawings of the major types of light motor craft operated by the Royal Navy in WWII. The 20 chapters include the first principles of boat construction, high speed motor boats, plans for building six boats, metal hulls, propulsion systems, sailing and sail plans, navigation gear for cruising yachts and a list of yacht and motor boat clubs. 338 pages including index, 13 pages marine related adverts at front, plus 20 pages following index, six foldout plans/diagrams, illustrated throughout with b/w photos, plans, drawings, sketches, cut-aways, diagrams, tables and graphs. Blue hard covers have faded titles front and spine, few spots,occasional light wear edges and spine extremities, light bumping to corners, Text block VG+ and firm in boards, no inscriptions.
