Ninety-six pages, complete. Many black and white illustrated advertisements of J. R. Watkins products, complete. Back cover shows a composite illustration of J. R. Watkin's plants and branches. There is a purple stamp of one of the company's agents: "G. F. Stockfleth, P. O. Box 422, Vacaville, Calif." Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. There are a few light stains on the front cover. A small spot of the front cover is rubbed off. Upper-right corner of the front cover is chipped. There is splitting along the spine. A Very Good copy. The following titles are listed under Contents: "To Every Member of the Family Circle," "Personal Grace and Charm," "Foods and Their Preparation," "The Healthy Child," "Remain Faithful to the Needs of the Human Body," "The Home Doctor," "The Care of Live Stock and Poultry," and "Index." Each section includes advice for different parts of one's life from socializing, parenting, nutrition, and achieving and maintaining good health. Most of the advice entails the use of one of J. R. Watkin's products. Features an extensive recipe and health section. The health section lists ailments alphabetically and each comes with a brief description and how to treat it (usually with a J. R. Watkins product). J. R. Watkins (1840-1911) was a businessman and the founder of Watkins Incorporated. In 1868, Watkins founded the company in Plainview, Minnesota when he made and sold liniment as a door-to-door salesman. The company moved to Winona, Minnesota in 1885 and added several new products to its lineup. Over the years, Watkins Inc. sold a variety of health, beauty, household, and baking products. The company still operates to this day selling a similar variety of products.
