Hardcover. Condition: g- to vg. Second Edition. Inscribed by the author on free front endpaper: From the Author." Octavo. 140pp. Original royal blue cloth with gilt lettering on cover and spine. First published as a two-pharagraph article in the journal Chemistry and Industry, this book evolved to fulfill the need for information on spectrophotometry as the field's relevance increased dram atically in the 1930's. Spectrophotometry is the quantitative study of the electromagnetic spectra, but more specifically visible light. By measuring the intensity of a light source as a function of the color, a spectrophotometer can measure its wavelength. The two main sections of this book, Absorption Spectra and Their Applications and The Technique of Absorption Spectroscopy, retain chapter titles such as The Nature of Absorption, Conditions for Securing Accuracy in Absorption Spectrophotometry, and chapters on techniques such as Quartz spectrographs, and absorption in Ultra-Violet and Infra-Red. General age wear. Large water stain covering 1/2 of rear board resulting in dark blue and green discoloration. Otherwise tight binding in good- and interior in very good condition.
