For almost fourteen centuries, ancient Native American cultures flourished in the Four Corners area of Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, the ancestors of today's Zuni, Hopi, and Navajo peoples. Archaeologists have now identified three main Pueblo cultures ~ the Hohokam, Mogollon, and Anasazi ~ whose civilizations peaked in the thirteenth century and mysteriously vanished before the arrival of the Europeans in the 1500s.
