Illustrated Board. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Reprint. A good attractive reading copy of this beautifully illustrated book based on a traditional (German?) folk verse telling the story of the building of a cannon. It won the Caldecott Medal awarded by the American Library Association, in 1968. It was originall…y published in the US by Prentice-Hall in 1967, and then by The Bodley Head in England in 1970, reprinted 1972. This is an ex library book and has the usual stamps, remains of book plates etc. Dust Jacket: very clean and bright but with some spine fading and rubbing to edges; originally protected by library cover the removal of which has left tape marks; some loss on front flap (now protected). Cover: clean and bright with rubbing to corners; removal of library covering has left some damage and marking to paste downs. Internally: clean and bright although with obvious signs of use; library stamps to title page and remains of date plate on front free endpaper. Illustrated on every page. Landscape format. No pagination. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Emberley, Ed (illustrator).
