Kate Aplington (1859 - 1928) prepared herself for writing this novel by "talking with those who took the long road to Santa Fe behind their ox teams" and "read government reports, delved into historical collections and collecting newspaper clippings." This is a reprint of the original 1913 edition, and is an uncommon book. Original publisher's brown cloth covers with black spine and cover lettering. Contains four pages of publisher's ads in the rear. There is an old owner name and address on the third blank page, else This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, and no bookplates. ; Color Frontis Illustration; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 400 pages.
