Vintage script for the 1960 play, which premiered on November 30, 1960, at the Belasco Theater, running for 333 performances before closing on September 15, 1961. Based on James Agee's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1957 novel "A Death in the Family," about two families in Tennessee whose lives are affected by the sudden death of the patriarch in an automobile accident. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and nominated for five Tony Awards, winning one for Best Actress for Colleen Dewhurst. Set in Knoxville in 1915. Maroon titled wrappers. Title page present, dated 10 October 1960, with credits for novelist James Agee and playwright Tad Mosel. 99 leaves, with last page of text numbered III-22. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with three silver brads.
