Son père , Pierre-Guillaume Frédéric Le Play, et lui aussi jouaient un rôle important dans l'organisation des différentes Expositions Universelles au 19ième siècle. A 25 ans il avait prix en main l'important domain de Ligoure en Limoisin. Il mourait en 1937, agé de 95 ans. Il était le propriétaire d'un grand hôtel à l'Impasse Valmy (Blvd. Saint-Germain) qui fait actuellement partie des Ministères.
