About this Item: The Corneliuses, Berkeley, CA, 1996. Softcover. 8 ½ x 11inches, [12pp] Quarto sheets reproduced from computer generated typesecript, bound in office-report style plastic covers with (original) tape spine. This edition limited to 56 copies, signed and numbered by the author. Collects together a spurious correspondence - supposedly between Crowley and his milkman. Will resonate with anyone who has spent time wading through some of the Beast's less-enlightened letters: those with endless requests for money, etc. etc. This parody first appeared in a small-run Lodge publicaton, 'Thelma's Lost Colander' (February, 1994) and was reissued as a Pangenetor Lodge Publication, 'Parody No.1', in November of that year. It's fame (notoriety) spread, and two years later in response to popular demand, Cornelius (Frater Achad Osher 583), prepared this new edition and offered it to local Lodge members. However, a change in circumstances meant that a small number of copies were never distributed, and these have now been unearthed and are here offered for sale. Hint of glue residue on spine, otherwise Fine Condition. Seller Inventory # 27808

About this Item: The Winged Lion, Bicary, France, 1998. First Edition. Softcover. Booklet. Octavo. (20pp) Violet French-fold thick paper wrappers with black titling. Printed on Zerkall mould-made paper. Limited edition, this copy not numbered (most are not), but signed by Timothy D'Arch Smith on the half-title page. Another wonderful piece of literary detective work by the author of ' The Books of the Beast.' Bunburying is a term that was introduced by Oscar Wilde in the play ' The Importance of Being Earnest,' to convey the practice of inventing of an imaginary friend-in-distress or similar reason as a pretext to excuse oneself from a social obligation. Various explanations have been posited for the origin of the term: Aleister Crowley had his own, apparently based on inside knowledge, which he conveyed in a letter to his acquaintance Bruce Lockhart. Tim D'Arch Smith uses this letter as the metaphorical starting point of this essay, in which he examines not just the origins of the term 'Bunburying,' but more broadly the homosexual underworld of 1890s England, Crowley's position in it, and the threads of acquaintance that connected him to Wilde. Light bump to upper edge, otherwise Fine condition. Seller Inventory # 33846

About this Item: The Corneliuses, Berkeley, CA, 1996. First Edition. Softcover. 8 ½ x 11inches, [16pp] Quarto sheets reproduced from computer generated typesecript, bound in office-report style plastic covers with (original) tape spine. This edition limited to 56 copies, signed and numbered by the author. Liber Worth Fifteen Cents. The REAL Gnostic Catholic Masse of the American O.T.O. CA: Berkeley, The Corneliuses, 8 ½ x 11, tape binding, clear plastic cover. 1996. A wicked parody of Crowley's Gnostic Catholic Mass, and its performance. Like all good parodies it works because of the author's familiarity with the subject, and because it has at least some factual basis. Thus a reference to Oreo cookies being used in place of the wafers relates to a real occurrence, when, realizing that people were arriving for a Mass, but that no wafers had been prepared, Grady McMurtry raced into his kitchen, opened a packet of Oreos. blessed them, and used them in the service. Apparently not all within the OTO saw the humor of the work, with some regarding it as a distasteful 'airing of dirty laundry,' and it's release created a certain amount of controversy. This is the first publication of The REAL Gnostic Catholic Masse, which was published as a companion to the reissue of The Milkman Letters in January 1996. A change of residence meant that a small number of copies were set aside and never distributed, but the parody proved so popular that it was was re-released later that year as a Pangenetor Lodge Publication, 'Parody No. 4.' The few remaining copies of the First, signed edition have now been unearthed and are here offered for sale. Included with each is a special 4pp. 'key' to the publication: 'Notes used to write the parody' in which Cornelius comments on and identifies the realities behind the jokes. This also signed by Cornelius. A fine copy. Seller Inventory # 27807

About this Item: Neptune Press, London, 2004. First trade edition. Hardcover, Octavo. 176pp. Clothbound, with full colour dustwrapper, and black and white frontis-portrait of Frank Bennett. Signed by Keith Richmond. 'The Magical Record of Frater Progradior' is a journal chronicling the visionary and magical experiences which Lancashire-born Frank Bennett (1868-1930) underwent during an intense retreat or Magical Retirement which he undertook at Crowley's Abbey of Thelema in Cefalu in 1921. Crowley himself was profoundly moved by Bennett's visions, which he described as 'exalted and intense and intimate,' and felt displayed a 'kinship of the soul' with John Bunyan.' 'The Magical Record' contains the text of Frank Bennett's Cefalu diary, with Aleister Crowley's added comments, along with several other writings by Bennett. It also includes the text of Crowley's Liber Samekh, a ritual he prepared especially for Bennett's use during his Magical Retirement The collection has been assembled and introduced by Keith Richmond, the author of the biographical study of Crowley and Bennett: 'Progradior and the Beast.' 'The Magical Record' has a previously unpublished photographic portrait of Bennett as its frontispiece, and the book's dustwrapper and endpapers include striking colour reproductions of two paintings of Cefalu by Crowley which he presented to Bennett. The book is uniform in format to its companion volume: 'Progradior and the Beast.' New. Fine in Fine dust jacket. Seller Inventory # 18471

Ths copy signed by the author on front free endpaper. An unusual novel by Australian painter, writer and critic, Adrian Lawlor (1889-1969). In his book "Adrian Lawlor: A Portrait," Gavin Fry suggested that the writings of Aleister Crowley, to which Lawlor had been introduced by P. R. Stephensen, were one of the influences in "Horned Capon," although these do not seem readily apparent to this cataloguer. In another curious Crowley connection, "Horned Capon" was distributed by Norman Robb, the bookseller friend of Crowley's Australian disciple Frank Bennett, who assembled a major collection of Crowleyana, and was responsible for the preservation of a large amount of Crowley's papers, including a number of then-unique O.T.O. rituals. About this Item: Neptune Press, London, 2004. First trade edition. Hardcover, Octavo. 316pp. Clothbound, with full color dustwrapper, and black and white illustrations. Bibliography and Index. Signed by Keith Richmond. Progradior and the Beast recounts the story of Lancashire-born Frank Bennett (1868-1930), one of Aleister Crowley's more successful, if little-known followers. Whilst still a youth Bennett embarked on a spiritual odyssey which eventually led him to the study of ceremonial magic, and into contact with Crowley. Bennett, also known by his magical name, Frater Progradior, migrated to Australia in 1911 where he founded A .'. A.'. and O.T.O. groups, and sought to promote Crowley's law of Thelema. In 1921 Bennett traveled to Crowley's Abbey of Thelema at Cefalu, where he rapidly became one of the Beast's star pupils.Progradior and the Beast is largely drawn from previously unpublished sources - letters, journals, and other documents - and provides rare insight into the private and public worlds of these two twentieth century magicians. It is illustrated with a number of previously unseen pictures of Crowley and Bennett, and the dustwrapper and endpapers include striking colour reproductions of two paintings by Crowley: one a portrait of Frank Bennett, and the other a Cefalu landscape. The book is uniform in format with its companion volume: 'The Magical Record of Frater Progradior.' New book / Fine condition. Seller Inventory # 18466

What motivated them? What were they like? Where did they come from? And what ever happened to them when they were no longer with Crowley? For the first time ever, biographies of Crowley's women are available. J. Edward Cornelius has painstakingly researched, often in sources not widely accessible, to bring you the life histories of the thirty-three female lovers who were most significant to Aleister Crowley (1875-1947). He has collected their biographies here, in this volume of Essays, especially for you to enjoy and ponder. As richly as possible, Cornelius has painted a picture of each woman. He has detailed each woman's birth, family background, education, activities, antics, achievements, marriages, children, and death. NEW book, in Fine condition (no dust jacket as issued). About this Item: Stellar Visions, Berkeley, CA, 1981. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 42pp. Blue stapled wrappers, with original blue cloth-tape spine. Endsheets colored (lightly) with watercolors. There were several different printings of the Source Book, but this is the stated first edition, hand-numbered (63), dated (5-14-81),and signed (Fra. 137) by Ebony Anpu on the limitation leaf at rear. "Source book 93 is organized as a reference to the Teachings of the O.T.O. and the Official Publications of the A.'. A.'. . It is largely comprised of various lists of works by Crowley, some accompanied by a brief synopsis. Still a useful tool. The booklet was part of the massive effort by Ebony Anpu and others to systematize and publish Crowley texts in the early 1980s when few were available in print. The booklets were advertised at the time as having "beautiful hand colored endpapers," but irrespective of one's thoughts on these the other production values are rather basic. Light rubbing to covers, bookshop sticker to title-page. Overall a VG+ copy of the uncommon first edition. Seller Inventory # 56027
