Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. RARE First Edition Second Printing (1961) Jess Sweeten: Texas Lawman by Allan Sigvard Lindquist Published by The Naylor Company Offered here is a highly collectible copy of Jess Sweeten: Texas Lawman, a first edition, second printing (1961) by Allan Sigva…rd Lindquist, a remarkable chronicle of one of Texas legendary sheriffs. This rare volume is made even more special by the inclusion of an original clipped obituary of Jess Sweeten from a Henderson County, Texas newspaper. The obituary highlights Sweetens distinguished achievements and notes his historic election as the youngest sheriff in Texas at the time. It is a unique piece of provenance that adds both authenticity and historical depth to this copy. The book itself is in pristine condition. The distinctive brown leather like cover with embossed illustration remains in very good shape, showing only minor wear to the upper and lower spine. The spine is solid and intact, and the binding is tight and secure. There is no bumping of note. The interior pages are exceptionally clean and free of writing, markings, foxing, or highlighting. The original dust jacket is present and in good condition. It has some tears and small rips but remains fully intact in one piece. Importantly, it is not price-clipped and still displays the original $4.95 price which is a significant detail for serious collectors. This is a scarce and desirable Texas law enforcement collectible, especially with the added obituary ephemera. An outstanding addition for collectors of Texas history, Western Americana, or law enforcement memorabilia. A rare opportunity to own a well-preserved first edition of an important Texas lawman's story. (BR) Shelf 308D.
