About this Item: Hermetic Press, Seattle, 2000. Hard Cover. Condition: Collectible- Very Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. Joseph Schmidt (illustrator). First Edition. Vol.One, xliii-lxi, 993-1752 pages. Vol.Two, lxvii-lxxxi, 1753-2590 pages. In these two (heavy) books are 556 of Stewart James' magic tricks, created from 1976 until his death in 1996. They form a sequel to "Stewart James in Print", following the same format: each trick has an interesting introduction, plenty of anecdotes about James, and line drawings by Schmidt. Nice copies. The only flaws are that the books are bumped at the corners (and vol.two at bottom of spine), and dust jackets are likewise bumped at corners and extremities of spine (vol.two has tiny tear at front bottom edge). Still look nice in new mylar. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book. Seller Inventory # H2655

About this Item: Jogestja Ltd., Toronto, 1989. hb. black-&-white illustrations (illustrator). 1st edition. Heavy 4to, pp. xxxi, 991. ISBN 0969417403 James (1908-1996) was one of the world's most prolific inventors of magic tricks and routines. Born in Canada, he was the author of "One More Thought on Cards", the three volumes of "Abbott's Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks", and numerous articles. This copy of his catalogue raisonne was purchased by us from a prominent CBC Radio personality who, in turn, had been given it by the late national broadcaster Peter Gzowski. The book was given to Gzowski by James on the occasion of the former's interview of the latter on his national radio program. James, who was quite elderly at the time, inscribed this copy "To Preter [sic] from Stewart" and gave it to him after the interview concluded. It is a massive book describing in detail over 400 tricks and routines James published or marketed over a fifty-year span. Each trick is prefaced by a fascinating introduction. Ourcopy shows insignificant shelf wear and is unmarked and save for a few faint spots on the foredge of the text block. The dust jacket is present and has light wear, mainly confined to rubbing at the folds and spine ends. Seller Inventory # 043791
