Tape residue inside cover. Dust jacket in very good condition, in library plastic cover with slight wear and tape to inner covers. Compilation of 23 cowboy songs collected by N. Howard "Jack" Thorp (1867 - 1940) and first published In 1908 (and a latter expanded 1921 edition), without musical notation, titled Songs of the Cowboys; the book included "Little Joe, the Wrangler," written by Thorp himself. Cattleman Thorp spent some 50 years riding the range; his original publication represents the first systematic effort to track down western cowboy songs and poems and western songs. 346 pages with lexicon, bibliography and index of titles.
