In this study, daily weather records from 22 selected Wyoming stations were put on punch cards beginning in 1956, in a cooperative program between the U. S. Department of Commerce Weather Bureau and the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station. The selection of stations used was limited to those which, as much as possible, had continuous 30-year records, 19311960. The 22 stations are listed in Table I and shown in Figure I. The medians. extremes, and probabilities were charted and graphed as shown in Appendix 1. Where minor amounts of data were missing, interpolations were made. Where major amounts of data were missing. the first previous good year's record before 1931 was substituted. This book is from the Jack McK. Pardee Collection. Mr. Pardee was a collector of Americana who focused on frontier and natural history, hunting, wildlife, and firearms and is noted not only for his book selections but for their careful handling and storage. Most of his collection had faultless interior pages. E-mail for more information regarding the Pardee collection. Scans and lists available.

Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Alyea, John D. - Cover POhoto (illustrator). Assumed First Edtion. 97 Pages. June 1964 Edition. Minor damage to lower 2 inches of spine. Otherwise tight book with no marks or stamps and a faultless interior. In 1956 the U.S. Department of Commerce Weather Bureau and the University of Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station began a cooperative program to place on punch cards daily weather records for selected stations. As much as possible, the selection of stations was limited to those with long-time continuous records. The 30-year period 1931-1960, corresponding to the official normal period, was selected. Where minor amounts of data were missing, statistical estimates were used. Where major amounts of data were missing, the first previous good record year prior to 1931 was substituted. The probability of receiving specific amounts of precipitation for various periods was determined using a technique agreed upon by the Western Regional Technical Committee consisting of one representative from the Agricultural Experiment Station in each of the 11 Western states. The technique consisted of fitting a mathematical model to the precipitation observations. The technique is described in the North Central Region publications by Freidman and Janes. Computations were performed with an electronic computer located at the University of Wyoming Computer Center, using a program. Climatological information can be used in the solution of many problems encountered in agrucultural, commercial and scientific fields. Scans available.
