Soft cover. Condition: Good. Original light green printed wrappers. 4 by 6 inches. 304pp, 20pp publisher's catalogue. Engraved frontispiece and title page with smaller engraved illustrations in the text. An anonymous early conduct book for young gentlemen relating to techniques of seduction and courtship of the opposite sex. The author refers to literary and historical examples of the past and recommends the reading of works by Marivaux, Prevost, Rousseau and others but advises against emulating the examples of Don Juan, Richelieu and Faust among others. A very scarce book with only the copy at Bibliotheque Nationale de France cited in OCLC. A good, complete copy with some soiling to the covers which have some curling at the corners. The spine is chipped and the front cover neatly detached (but present). The text is good with some scattered foxing and spotting and some curling to the page corners. Rare.
